Trust Me Too
Right now – 10.00 am on 20th July, 2012 – a book is being launched in Sydney at Parramatta High School. I have a short story included in this book and it would be nice to see its first venture out into the world. But next week I’ll be at its Melbourne launch.
The book is Trust Me Too, a huge anthology of stories edited by Paul Collins with an introduction by Judith Ridge. Fifty-seven authors and illustrators contributed to the collection including Shaun Tan, Wendy Orr, Isobel Carmody, Leigh Hobbs, Oliver Phommavanh, James Roy, Michael Gerard Bauer, Gary Crew – to name a few.
Trust Me Too is the second anthology of short stories that Ford Street Publishing have produced and I was pleased to be able to contribute. My story is called The Night Swimmer and was written while the Professor and I were staying in a caravan park on a cliff top in NSW last year. It’s a ghost story of a sort that grew out of the very creepy feeling of walking through an empty caravan park at night.
The Melbourne launch of Trust Me Too is open to the public. It will be held at Princes Hill Secondary College, Arnold Street, Carlton at 6 pm on Friday, July 27. Isobelle Carmody will give a reading from her prequel to Obernewtyn which is included in the collection and there will be a huge turnout of authors and illustrators attending – including me!
