Hong Kong Writers’ Festival

All of this week, I’m in Hong Kong as a guest of the Man Hong Kong International Writers’ Festival. I arrived on Friday morning and have enjoyed every single minute of being here.

Hong Kong is an amazing city. I love how it is so vibrant and energetic. This city is alive with story and I’d love to live here for a whole year and discover what sort of books it would compel me to write. At the moment, I’m writing this blog in the Foreign Correspondents’ Club, which is simply dripping with history and charm. Tonight, I’ll be delivering my first talk at the festival along with Dava Sobel, Witi Ihimaera and John Man. I should probably be feeling a little nervous but I’m actually looking forward to it. Writing can be such a solitary business that it’s great to remember that the world is full of inspring writers and intriguing readers.
