Being nice can make life difficult

I hate writing negative reviews about books. It’s a great achievement to finish a story and to have it published. But sometimes it’s hard to find nice things to say about some of the books I read, which is why I haven’t been posting many blogs about my recent reading. For every four or fivebooks I read, only one seems worth reviewing and lately I’ve been putting down dreary books after I’ve only scanned thirty pages or so. Perhaps it is useful to have bad things written about books so you know to steer clear of them but there are a lot of wonderful books out there which deserve to be talked about. Tricky business. I’ve always believed that being kind and honest is much harder than being mean and petty. Sometimes, when it comes to reviewing books, sticking to ‘kind and honest’ can be a real challenge.
