I feel just as excited as Ruby and Banjo, the joyous characters on the cover of my new picture book, ‘Puddle Hunters’. Last week, the final proofs of this story, beautifully illustrated by the uber-talented Karen Blair, went off to the printers. It will be in shops come August, in good time for puddle season.
Next week I’ll be in Singapore, visiting both Dulwich College and the Australian International School as well as attending the Asian Festival of Children’s Content. It’s been a few years since I’ve last spent more than a day in Singapore and I’m looking forward to its heat and magic.
In the past two decades I’ve signed more than twenty publishing agreements and learned a few hard truths about how stories travel or fail to do so. Tomorrow night I’ll be telling a few stories about post-colonialism and territorial rights for the Melbourne Free University.
